Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native was born and raised there. Pam her mother is an ex-backing singer in the band Philadelphia International Records. Her father invited her to take on a job as the curator of the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family then moved into the historical landmark. In 2005, she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of a major in vocal music. Sullivan began singing in the school's chorus as a contralto after which she was a part of the adult chorus just a few years further on. His exposure to secular music was initially limited "I was doing solos in churches and a person wanted me to join gospel labels when I was eleven but I wasn't yet ready," she recalls. "Then the time came that McDonald's was hosting a competition for kids in major cities, I got a chance to perform 'Accept What God Gives' on Showtime in the Apollo and the audience responded really well". Stevie Wonder sang her part for her son's 13th birthday celebration. Sullivan was first signed to Jive Records at the age fifteen. In the age group of 15 she signed with Jive Records. They recorded her whole album at Jive Records, however it wasn't released. Sullivan was ultimately dropped by the label. Her work had been in good partnership and Missy Elliott. Elliott produced many of her tracks, including "Backstabbers" that was produced by Timbaland.
